God's Universal Laws Part 2

Jeremiah 31:33

“This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

We are looking at the laws of God. According to Scripture and theological interpretation, the laws written on our hearts are not a new set of external commandments, but the internalized moral and spiritual principles of God’s nature made real in us through the Holy Spirit. This writing expresses both God’s moral law and the law of love, fulfilled in Christ.

Last week we looked at the moral laws as given to us by the Ten Commandments, and The Law of Love as seen in Christ’s decree to “Love God with all our hearts, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbor as our self.” This is the greatest of all commandments.

There are other laws that flow from a law that is never overtly stated, and that is the Law of Oneness. It is best understood through the concept of unity between God, humanity, and all creation. While Scripture does not use the phrase Law of Oneness, it expresses this truth throughout both the Old and New Testaments – especially in the teachings of Jesus and the apostles.

In John 17:21–23, Jesus prays to the Father: “That they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us.”  This “oneness” is not about dissolving individuality but participating in divine communion – a shared life between God and His people through the Holy Spirit. The indwelling relationship described by Jesus reveals that all believers are united with God and with one another in love and purpose.

Then in John 15:4–5, Jesus compares this unity to a vine and its branches: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself… so neither can you unless you abide in me.”

This metaphor expresses mutual dependence and spiritual vitality – the essence of spiritual oneness. In Ephesians 4:4-6 Paul continues this theme of oneness by stating, “There is one body and one Spirit… one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” This is the basis of the spiritual law that all of us, in fact all things, are interconnected – each life affects, contributes to, and supports the whole.

The Bible reveals a profound unity behind all diversity, affirming that creation is ordered by God and ultimately held together in Him. Genesis 1:27 states that all humanity, male and female, is created in God's image, indicating that diverse human beings share a common divine origin and likeness. Creation is described as “very good” in Genesis 1:31, implying harmony amidst diversity.

Revelation 7:9 says, “After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.” This verse describes oneness among diverse peoples. God’s plan includes the restoration and reconciliation of all things in Christ, the renewal of creation into perfect harmony. Ephesians 1:9-10 says, “God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfill his own good pleasure. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ – everything in heaven and on earth.”

This law is the source of what we call the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. The Golden Rule mirrors the Law of Oneness by revealing that humanity’s relationships are woven from one divine source. To honor another’s dignity, serve their good, and extend love is to live in alignment with the unity of all creation – a truth that bridges our moral duty and spiritual awareness, and summarizes God’s law.

The Law of Oneness teaches that everything in the universe is interconnected. Every thought, action, and emotion affects the world and others, reflecting the biblical principle that all people are parts of one body, working together in unity. It is through faith that we know God’s Love and our oneness with God.

Faith and God-awareness are developed and strengthened by persistent practice of the presence of God through right and focused thought, meditation, contemplation, and prayer. We can boldly and confidently affirm, “My Father and I are one,” and “All that belongs to the Father is mine,” because it is true. The consciousness of oneness is cultivated, really remembered, because it is part of who we are as a child of God. We can come to know that God is right where we are, at all times, and that we can call upon Him with assurance whenever we desire.

From the Law of Oneness flows yet another powerful law – the Law of Abundance. First, let us recognize and acknowledge that God is our source of all life and what is. He is all-powerful, all wise, and everywhere present at all times. Our Creator is ready, willing, and eager to bestow untold blessings on us, for Love and giving is His very nature.

Our part is to establish a conscious connection with this power and to learn to recognize and to receive God’s good when it comes our way. When our human consciousness becomes an unobstructed channel through which divine love can flow freely, and when our human will and God’s Divine Will operate in harmony, then God creates for us whatever we may need. It may not be what we think we need. But from God’s unlimited supply of health, happiness, and abundance we are blessed.

It is our privilege as a child of God to apply this law to bring good to ourselves and others. It is like the laws of mathematics: it does not itself add or subtract but works through our minds and intellect. So, it is with the Law of Abundance. We must prepare our minds and hearts with right thoughts and actions in order to cooperate with the Law. It does not do it on its own.

The law of abundance is illustrated in Matthew 7:7. “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” We determine what we want and make sure it is right and in alignment with God’s laws. Then we persevere until we receive God’s good. We keep our mental and spiritual channels clear, and our minds turned Godward.

We are made in God’s image, and all that belongs to the Father is ours. God is the only Source. All power, life, love, wisdom, joy, intelligence, peace, health, and truth emanate from God and are constantly flowing in, around, and through us – in our bodies, minds, relationships, affairs, and lives at all levels. We need but to realize this, accept it, have faith in it, and be thankful for the good that is already ours. In Isaiah 65:24 God tells us, “I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!”

God knows us and loves us anyway. He knows what we desire, and what we need and manipulates things so that we can have what we want or something better. I pray that we open our hearts, minds, and lives to the loving, fulfilling laws of God. Through faith, or trusting and relying on God and His promises, we open our hearts to all of God’s good. His laws are part of His promises and represent fundamental principles that govern the universe and human life and reflect God’s orderly and loving design.

Aligning with and understanding these laws brings greater harmony, peace, and purpose to life. They help us become conscious creators of our reality, guiding our thoughts, emotions, and actions toward positive outcomes rather than chaos or unintended consequences. Christ speaks to us individually in John 10:10, “I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly.”  This is a life of Christ’s love – a life united with God that overflows with peace, joy, purpose, and eternal connection.
