WHO WE ARE
Genoa Community Church is a non-denominational congregation that celebrates the many facets of human spirituality. We endeavor to learn about God and His creation and express our gratitude for the many blessings that He has bestowed upon us. We acknowledge our Christian teachings and are seeking an evolution of these teachings to include all human spirit.
We welcome you to the accepting environment of our Church, where we realize that each relationship with God is unique. We want to understand this diversity of Spirit and how it moves through all of us. It is a place of inner stillness where we pray, sing, meditate, and worship God. It is a place of inner beauty where we recognize the beauty in others, receive instruction, and go with thanksgiving.
Charitable Giving
Genoa Community Church is in the business of changing and shaping lives., and our charitable giving is aimed primarily at providing help for local organizations. Our focus organizations include: Carson City FISH (Friends in Service Helping), Jacks Valley Elementary School Backpack Program/Principal Fund, Douglas County Food Closet,
Douglas County Family Support Council, Douglas Country Sheriff's Explorer Program, and Heifer International.
We also support “Between Horses and Humans” and “Kids and Horses”.
We have also donated to Carson City Gideon's, Honor Flight, the Santa Project, and local individuals who have needed help.
Carson City FISH
Our Mission: FISH provides food, clothing, shelter and medical aid to the homeless and hungry within our community, with the objective to provide programs and referrals to families and individuals so that they may become self-sufficient.
Jacks Valley Backpack Program
Our BackPack program provides children who don’t have enough to eat with nutritious, easy-to-prepare food at times when other resources are not available.
BackPacks are distributed every Friday so that children have meals for the weekend, and contain enough food that a child can easily assemble into six healthy meals. This helps ensure that children will have food over the weekend and return to school on Monday ready to learn.
Douglas County Food Closet
Carson Valley Community Food Closet is a non-profit 501(c)(3)organization providing food to qualifying residents in Douglas County. Basic commodities are provided on a monthly basis to participants to supplement their food supply. We strive to provide participants with a variety of healthy food from each food group.
